Rifle Heat Shield

We've already made it possible for you to turn your AR into ART with gorgeous, patterned handguards! Now, add a pop of color under your handguard with this heat shield! These heat shields were specifically designed to fit the original series aluminum patterned handguards that we offer on this site. You can view the handguards here. They may not fit other brands of handguards. 

The shield is designed to slide under the handguard and over the 556 castle bolt, and is attached using an end cap (will NOT fit breached-end handguards, eg. Freedom Eagle). 

End cap will accept barrels up to 0.95" in diameter. Choose what style of end cap you prefer - one that has a sprocket with spikes, or a flat sprocket. Get it basic black or add any Cerakote color you wish!

Gas Block Fit: This will work with all low-profile (0.75") gas blocks.

What's included: You are buying a heat shield with end cap and screws only. Handguards are not included.  Need a handguard? Get one here.

So what size heat shield will you need to order to fit your handguard? Keep in mind there is an end cap. The end cap is 1" wide and will need to fully fit into the handguard without interfering with the gas block. So whatever the length of your gas block is from the face of the upper, we need to allow 1" of additional space between the gas tube and the end of the handguard for the end cap. 

These are the general lengths for gas blocks - please check yours:

• Pistol length system is 5.5″ from the face of the upper 
• Carbine length system is 8.5″ from the face of the upper 
• Mid-length system is 10.5″ from the face of the upper
• Rifle length system is 12.625″ from the face of the upper

Add 1" to these above length to allow the heat shield end cap to fit inside the handguard without hitting the gas block. This number is the minimum length your handguard needs to be. 

This means that:

• If 5.5" Pistol length gas system - your handguard must be 6.5"or longer
• If 8.5" Carbine length gas system - your handguard must be 9.5″ or longer
• If 10.5" Mid-length gas system - your handguard must be 11.5" or longer
• If 12.625" Rifle length gas system - your handguard must be 13.625″ or longer

In other words, when selecting a handguard from our Patterned Handguard line:

• Pistol length gas system - this works with all available handguard lengths
• Carbine length gas system- you'll need a 12" or 15" handguard. This heat shield will not work with shorter handguards. 
• Mid-length gas system- you'll need a 12" or 15" handguard. This heat shield will not work with shorter handguards.  
• Rifle-length gas system - you'll need a 15" handguard. This heat shield will not work with shorter handguards.

ALL Cerakote colors are available as an optional extra (+$35 per color) - we must have the Cerakote color number, so please locate that using the link below to view all color swatches on Cerakote's site. Then just enter your desired color name & number in the field provided.

** The orange color you see in the pics is a custom color called UAR Burnt Orange. If that's the color you want, just enter that name in the color name text field.

  End cap is attached with two screws inserted in the foremost tactical rail holes on the handguard, at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions.  **Only works with 556 barrel nut and 0.75″ gas blocks (not included).  Watch Installation Video
